2026 3MT Competition Details

NAGS is pleased to announce the 2026 Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition. The virtual event will be hosted by Concordia University. The 3MT competition will feature winners of each NAGS member’s local competitions, with the NAGS winner and runner-up being sent to the next Council of Graduate Schools national competition. Please see below for details and instructions.

Date: Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. ET

Format: The competition consists of two parts:

• Part 1: Using the 3MT judging criteria, a panel of volunteer judges from NAGS institutions will review all submissions and select the best presentations.
• Part 2: The NAGS 3MT competition will be held live via Zoom where we will see the select 3MT presentations. The panel of volunteer judges will pick the winner with a people’s choice category selected by the attendees. The event will be open to a wider audience to watch the live stream. 

 Eligibility: The 2025*/26 3MT Competition winner from each NAGS member school is eligible. If that student cannot participate (e.g., because they have graduated and cannot attend), then the school’s Dean may select a different student.

*Depending on when the 3MT is held during the 2025/26 academic year at each institution, it may be your 2025 or 2026 winner. If your representative has already competed in NAGS 3MT 2025 they are not eligible to compete again.

Instructions for Schools:

• By Friday, March 27, 2026, register your institution for the NAGS 3MT by completing this form: NAGS 3MT 2026 – Google Forms
• By Wednesday, April 1, 2026, participating institutions must submit their student’s 3MT recording by email to je.ibarraisassi@concordia.ca. If your competition is scheduled after this date, contact Javier.

More information will be sent to each registered school. If selected, student participants must be available to present live online on April 22, 2-4pm EST.
